Ganson Building & Civil have been appointed main contractor for the installation of a new Lidl store in Rushmore Shopping Centre on the site of the former Sainsbury’s petrol station & carwash in Craigavon.

A deep drainage design has been proposed for both foul and surface water which requires a diversion & upgrade of the existing system.

TCL have been appointed to design and install sheet pile cofferdams up to 8m deep, with minimal toe incorporating up to 4 levels of hydraulic frames, to allow safe access at the formation level and installation of pipework.

Back to back frame levels in stiff ground has proven difficult for the piling crew and open flight auguring has been adopted in some areas to ensure sheets can be driven to design depth.

A challenging design and install but progress was made to meet to the proposed programme and the opening of the new store on time.
